Nox Mortalis
In recent conversations with my brother, he mentioned writing if I ever got bored. And today, I got really bored in class. But I had my computer with me. So what better way to pass the time than to start writitng a novel-sorta-thing.
I, like any good nerd, have a wealth of knowledge about zombies and naturally decieded to do my "novel" on that subject. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to zombies. I have read numerous books (yes I still read) on the subject of zombies, many including details about the physiology of zombies. Yes, there are books that detail that (Check out "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks).
So I had the topic of my book chosen, now to choose a title. I consider this the hardest part of starting a book. I always need to have a title chosen whenever I start a literary project, be it a short story, poem, whatever.
Anyways, in deciding the title, I knew I had to choose something invovling death. I mean come on, zombies = death incarnate. And therefore I needed to come up with something cool. I played around with giving the name "How Humanity Has Fallen," but that didn't really seem appropriate.
I then began to think of the coolest sounding words and how many of them came from Latin roots. (Keep in mind, the next part is my thought process) Lightbulb. Latin. Latin sounds cool right? It does. What is the latin root for death? Nex. Coooool. What is the Latin word for human? Mortalis. Even cooler. What if we put them together? Nex Mortalis, which literally means "death of human." Awesome.
And that is the working title of my new-ish novel. Let's see how far I get before I get bored and ditch the project.... hopefully I might even finish it...
