I am a jerk... in Skyrim.
So I've noticed something. When it comes to playing Skyrim, I'm a total jerk. There's something about this game that brings out the worst in me. I don't really know why. Usually when it comes to RPGs I take the high road, giving justice for those who are jerks to others, making sure the little guy gets what he needs. It's only a video game, but it's still something that I find that I follow.
However, Skyrim seems to have tapped an inner "jerk" in me. I don't go around slaughtering everyone in sight, but I'm not a total angel either. It started off with a simple quest. I was asked by a guy to deliver a fake letter to a girl in order to turn her off to another guy (if that makes any sense). I could however choose to give the fake letter to the other guy, and therefore save face for him. However, something in me decided to be the jerk and give the letter to the girl, effectively ruining any chance the other guy had. This of course was just the beginning of my illustrius career of being a jerk.
I play a very "stealthy" style when it comes to RPGs. I prefer to kill my victims before they even know that I have entered into their plane of existence. Because of this, my sneak skill is so high that I can basically sneak past a man in broad daylight, literally 5 feet away from him, and still not be seen. This of course has lent itself to a very "jerky" style of play. Instead of just backstabbing or slicing my victim's throats, I like to pickpocket them before I kill them. Yes, I know this makes me a greedy little jerk, but I find it amusingly entertaining to pickpocket someone, kill them, and then get more gold from them.
This sneaky playstyle has also lent itself to getting rid of my bounties. When a guard recognizes me, instead of running off and pretending I don't hear them, if my bounty is low enough, I'll just bribe the guard. However, instead of leaping off like a happy little leprechaun, I like to sneak up behind the guard and pickpocket the money that I just paid them. So not only do I increase my speech skill, but I also increase my pickpocketing skill as well.
Now i know these things probably don't seem that bad, or really maybe not bad at all, but for me, it just opens up so much more entertainment.
Maybe next playthrough I'll be an orc and slaughter everyone in my way... who knows... O_o
