Little Guy in a Big Guy Body
I often tell people that I'm "a little kid trapped in a big kid's body," and recently started thinking about the implications of that statement. No, I'm not saying that I have the personality of a little kid. That would just be weird, and would mean that I'm mentally handicapped. Which I'm not.
No what I mean when I say that I'm "a little kid trapped in a big kid's body" I mean that I really enjoy many things that society considers "youthful" or "childish".
For example: I love playgrounds and playing "tag" with my friends. There's just something about climbing all over the playground trying to escape the person who is chasing you that stirrs something deep within me. A child-like joy that cannot be comprehended and explained. A nostalgia that harkens back to the days that I ran around care-free and homework-free.
And don't even get me started on the genious behind animated films. Yes, many of the large, Disney/Dreamworks/etc. movies do tend to be geared towards the younger generation. However, many of those movies contain little "tidbits" for adults. I really can't name anything off the top of my head, but I have found kids movies quite entertaining recently.
What I'm basically trying to say is that I enjoy doing things that much of society considers "childish." Yet, I still am able to find simple joys in them. Who says that growing up is a good thing?
