Hunger Games
I went to the midnight release of "The Hunger Games," expecting a close adaptation of the book that I had read and fallen in love with. What I saw was the closest and purest adaptation of any novel to a movie form that I had ever seen. As soon as the credits started rolling, I immediately turned to my friend whom i went to the movie with, and with wide eyes said, "That was incredible."
I easily give the movie a 10/10. And that's not something that I give out easily. The movie itself was extremely close to the original novel, only omitting unnecessary characters (which didn't play a large part in the book). It was how close it stayed to the origial story of the book that impressed me. I know that most novels aren't written to be turned into a movie (actually, I don't know any). But somehow, the writers managed to take the novel and portray it perfectly on the silver screen.
The marriage of technology with the poor facilities of district twelve was beautiful and fully realized what I had imagined (and went beyond I must say) the poor district to look like. And Central was way beyond anything that I could have ever imagined. The visuals of the movie were incredible, and I couldn't have asked for more.
