Friends... Are Forever?

A simple yet beautiful song came to mind a few days ago. It's one of the opening songs in "Pooh's Grand Adventure," and it portrays the beauty of friendship in general. The song's title is "Forever and Ever," and it goes like this (I don't have the actual song, but I do have the lyrics... look it up on youtube if you really want to hear it):

Forever And Ever

Pooh, there's something I have to tell you
Is it something, nice?
Not, exactly
Then it can wait
It can, for how long?
Forever and ever

Forever and ever
Is a very long time Pooh
Forever isn't long at all
When I'm with you

I wanna call your name, forever
And you will always answer, forever
And both of us will be
Forever you and me
Forever and ever

I wanna stay like this, forever
If only I could promise, forever
Then we could just be we
Forever you and me
Forever and ever

Forever and ever
Is a very long time Pooh
Forever isn't long at all, Christopher
When I'm with you

I wanna be with you, forever
I want you right here beside me, forever
One thing you should know
No matter where I go
We'll always be together
Forever and ever

It's a simple song with simple lyrics, yet behind it lies a philosophy that is beautifully profound. Here are two childhood friends, who despite what may lie ahead of them, choose to be friends forever. The storms of life won't ever shake their friendship. They may have their differences, and possibly some problems in the future, but through it all their friendship will endure.
The nievete and beauty of this song is wonderful. How often I wish I could go back to the innocence of childhood and experience everything new again. Childhood is a beautiful thing.
It's too bad that we often hope to become an adult. We spend most of our childhood thinking "When I get older, I'll be able to do..." We never take the time to appreciate not having responsibilites or paying for anything.
A saying that I like to say on occasion goes like this: "I'm an adult. How did this happen and how do I stop it?" I find it amusing as I have become a responsible adult, complete with financial responsibilty and school responsibility, I yearn for the halcyon days of my youth. Yeah I'm able to do a ton more awesome things now that I'm older, but there's something about being a kid that's just awesome.
And plus kids have the coolest things made for them. Just saying.
