The Real Jesus
Many people don't really know who Jesus really was. Some claim that he was a great teacher. Others claim that he was a normal guy who got singled out by history. And still others claim that Jesus was just a guy with some really solid ideas.
While all of these may be partly true, they don't capture the true Jesus. Jesus was God's son, sent to earth to take the punishment of death for mankind's mistakes. He was the one whom God put every single mistake and problem and horrible deed.
He was fully God, and fully man. And too often we forget that. Jesus was a man. He experienced the same frustrations and pains that we do. He had problems and he dealt with them.
One of the most poignant and often-quoted verses in the Bible is John 11:35: "Jesus wept." It's a simple two word sentence that gives so much insight into the mind of Jesus. At the time of this verse, Jesus had lost one of his greatest friends. He experienced the heartache of losing someone, and understood the deepest frustration and pain that any man or woman can experience.
This simple verse shows the humanity of Jesus. No matter what kind of pain or suffering that you are going through, Jesus can understand. He lived it. He cried it. He understands the pain of losing a loved one. He understands what you're going through.
Now give it all to him.
