_____ Hours in and it's STILL AWESOME!!!
So I have no idea how far I have sunk my life into Skyrim, but I can still say that I'm as impressed with it as when I first got it. Sort of.
I have a few minor complaints about the game:
1. The saving needs to happen more often. I have spent literally hours backtracking to something that I haven't discovered yet because I got killed by a random bear in the middle of the woods and my previous save point was when I left the cave.
If you fast travel somewhere, you shouldn't have to manually save your game. The game should know "Oh, he travelled here for a reason, let's save his game," not "Oh... I'm only going to save when he enters or exits a cave/town." It shouldn't be a hard thing to fix there Bethesda... so hop on it.
I really don't want to spend another half-hour trying to get somewhere because the autosave feature failed to autosave.
Ironically, this leads me into my next point:
2. Fighting needs to be balanced in a way. I know that Bethesda worked really hard on this one, but I am still finding that it's frustrating at some points. I can take down a fire mages fairly quickly because of my fire resistance, but when it comes to frost mages, I seem to be killed fairly quickly.
The same can be said for anyone with a two-handed sword. Never mind the fact that my armor provides almost 100 points of protection. They seem to be able to swing at me twice and take me down. When I try to attack them, some greater force finds their fur armor to be more powerful than my magically infused Skyblade. It gets a bit frustrating.
3. Sneaking. Ah sneaking... you have got me through various encounters with sneak attacks that would have otherwise killed my measily little self. However... sneak attacks are also a point of contention with me. I can sneak attack just fine with my bow. But.... it only causes triple damage. It's nice, but I want something with a little more "oomph" so to speak. And that's when my dagger comes out. It should give a nice x15 damage if I sneak attack someone, but more often then not, the stupid whatever notices me when I attack!
Whenever this happens I wonder if I did something wrong. I had my character in sneak, check. I had my weapon drawn before I started sneaking, check. I made sure that he didn't notice me by not pickpocketing him, check... and yet somehow when I go to strike, HE NOTICES ME!!!!
What the heck Bethesda! What happened? Did I suddenly cause a landslide behind my by pressing my R1 button? I had a legitimate kill lined up and the stupid code decided that I didn't do it correctly even though I got it all set up correctly!!!!
Anyways, despite these minor flaws in the game, I am enjoying Skyrim quite immensely. I love the fact that I can run around as a werewolf killing whomever I please, change back and have no repercussions whatsoever. And when it comes to killing anyone, I can always just pay off the guards if I get caught.... and that's if I get caught. Muahahahahahahahah!
Some people (*cough cough IGN cough cough) complain about the lack of the morality system in one of the most realistic RPGs. I find it quite entertaining. I'm not saying I endorse the slaying and maiming of various constituents of your province, but it is kinda theraputic to destroy the lives of a few random bandits... or townspeople if you're feeling extremely malevolent.
I really enjoy pickpocketing my victims before I kill them. Call me malicious, but there's something extremely satisfying about lifting all of my victim's gear off of him/her before I off him/her. It gets even better if they don't notice that I'm doing it and I'm able to get a sneak attack on them and destroy what pathetic existence they had. :D
Anyways... I've made it to about 4 of the major cities in Skyrim (I think there are 9) which means that I have quite a bit of exploring to do still (*huge grin). Expect another update about Skyrim in a week or so. Hopefully my update schedule will pick up a little more now that I have some more free time on my hands.
