The Simple Things
There's a phrase that goes, "It's the simple things in life that matter." While my "simple things" tend to be on the more complex end of the spectrum I have to agree that this statement, however overused and bland it may be, is quite true.
I tend to view life in little chunks. I think, If I can just get to the release of Return of the King, I'll be good, or I just need to wait until I get my next movie in the mail from Netflix. It tends to keep me sane and gives me something to look forward to in the coming weeks. It may seem a bit crazy, but it helps me get through the drudgery of life and get past all of the meaningless interactions that may occur during the allotted time.
When I stated "It's the simple things in life that matter," while a cliche, it does tend to be the simple things that keep me going: a new book, a movie I haven't seen in a long while, or a re-play through of a game that I haven't touched in over a year. Some tend to be a bit more involving than others (like imagination while reading books, or flicking the joystick while playing a video game) but in the end, one might call anyone of them a "simple pleasure." Of course my "simple pleasures" probably are quite different than someone else's "simple pleasure" which might involve a hot scented bath, or a roaring fire. To this I say "To each his own."
The reason why I bring this up is because of the upcoming epic "Borderlands 2." To you muggles who want to find out what the heck I mean by "Borderlands 2" go to borderlands2.com. For everyone else who knows what I am talking about, this is easily looking to be in the running for the "Game of the Year" award already. It comes out September 18th, which in my opinion, can't come soon enough.
And, because I'm a poor college kid, I can't afford the immediate "One-day-shipping" option, and therefore had to opt for the cheaper, "value shipping" which usually takes approximately 3-5 days to ship to me after I have ordered it. However, because of the timely manner in which I pre-ordered the game (about the exact date that they announced the game), it will be shipped out on the day that it is released. So I should recieve the game on Thursday... I hope.
And after the eventual release of Borderlands 2, I have to choose something else to look forward to... Maybe a new book, or possibly a new movie, like "The Hobbit."
Anyways, underlings, I leave you with these thoughts and a simple challenge. Find something that allows you to escape the confines of reality and soar away on your imagination. When you do this, your mind will expand to unknown areas.
